Who creates the guidance
Guides are published by A Jones Contractors, a Guildford-based groundworks and building contractor serving Woking and Surrey. They draw on the practical questions that arise around excavation, foundations, drainage, extensions, structural work, driveways, patios and related site work.
What we use as evidence
We distinguish between A Jones project experience, general construction explanation and external requirements. Where a rule or statutory process matters, we link to an appropriate primary source such as GOV.UK, Planning Portal, the Health and Safety Executive, a local authority, Building Control or the relevant water company. Cost articles identify the source, date and limits of any third-party benchmark.
How a guide is structured
Each guide starts with a direct answer, then explains the site conditions, decisions and risks that change that answer. Important limits are stated plainly: general website guidance cannot confirm a property’s ground, structure, drainage, permissions, access or safe construction method.
Photography and project evidence
Project and case-study images are drawn from the A Jones project archive unless a page states otherwise. Private addresses and identifying customer details are not published. A photograph is evidence of the work shown, not proof that the same specification is suitable for another property.
Updates and corrections
We change an updated date only when the page has been meaningfully reviewed or revised. Time-sensitive prices, regulations and external links should be checked against their named source before a project decision is made. Commercial transparency
The guides are free to read and may link to A Jones services, tools or enquiry routes. They do not contain paid rankings, fabricated reviews or undisclosed competitor comparisons. A Jones may not be the right contractor for every site; the survey, location, design information, programme and scope determine project fit.
