Driveways

Driveways

A well-built driveway needs more than a good-looking surface. We install block paving, resin bound, tarmac, gravel and permeable driveway systems with the right excavation depth, compacted sub-base, geotextile membrane, edging and drainage so it can handle daily vehicle traffic without sinking or holding water.

Driveways

Resin, block paving, tarmac and gravel

We install the main driveway surfaces UK homeowners search for, including resin bound, standard and permeable block paving, tarmac, gravel and loose aggregate. Resin is popular for a sleek permeable finish, while block paving remains a strong choice for classic styling and easy repair.

Groundworks that stop sinking

A typical new driveway is excavated to around 300mm depending on soil, levels and surface choice. We install geotextile membranes, compact MOT Type 1 or Type 3 stone in layers and lock the surface with kerbs, haunching or restraint edges.

SuDS drainage compliance

For driveways over 5 square metres, surface water must be managed sustainably. We use permeable materials where suitable or direct runoff to channels, soakaways, garden drainage or permeable areas within the property boundary.

Driveway cost factors

New driveway cost depends on the size, excavation depth, waste removal, drainage, access, edge restraints and final surface. A simple overlay is very different from a full replacement with a new sub-base, so we price from the ground conditions rather than using a single headline rate.

Common Questions

Useful Details

How much does a new driveway cost?

The cost of a new driveway depends on area, excavation, sub-base depth, drainage and surface choice. Resin, block paving, tarmac and concrete all price differently, so we confirm the right build-up before quoting.

What affects driveway installer cost?

The biggest cost drivers are spoil removal, access, drainage, edge restraints, permeable construction and whether the existing driveway can be reused or needs full excavation.

How deep should a driveway sub-base be?

Most domestic driveways need around 150mm to 200mm of compacted sub-base after excavation, though this changes with soil, vehicle use and the chosen surface.
